FAQ

How does the decluttering process work with The Clutter Council?

The decluttering process begins with an initial consultation where we assess your needs and goals. We'll discuss the areas you'd like to declutter and develop a personalized plan. During the sessions, Michaela will guide you through the process, helping you identify items to keep, donate, or discard. Your active participation is essential as we work together to transform your space.

How long does the decluttering process typically take?

A decluttering session will be 4 hours. However, it is typical for multiple sessions to be needed. The duration of the whole decluttering process varies depending on the size of the space, the amount of clutter, and your specific goals. It's important to approach decluttering as a journey rather than a one-time task. We'll work at a pace that suits your schedule and ensure that progress is made with each session.

What forms of payment to you accept?

Cash, Paypal, Venmo, and all major credit cards (via Square)

How should I prepare for your visit?

Do not clean before I come. Wear comfy clothes.

How does the consultation work?

You will decide on a space or area you would like to declutter. You will share your goals for the space and we will discuss the action plan for the session. You will need to be able to show me your space during the consultation, so keep this in mind when scheduling.

What geographic area to you cover?

I primarily work in the Metro West and Greater Boston areas. If you are outside of these areas please reach out anyway and we can discuss.

What happens to the items I decide to discard?

We encourage responsible disposal and offer guidance on the best options for unwanted items. This may include donating to local charities, recycling, or arranging for appropriate disposal methods. We'll work with you to find the most suitable and sustainable solutions for your discarded items. I will remove one car load of donation items for you per session.

Will you organize the space after decluttering?

Yes! Once the decluttering process is complete, we can assist you in organizing the space to maximize functionality and aesthetics. We'll work with you to develop tailored organizing systems and storage solutions that suit your needs and preferences.

Do I need to purchase organizing supplies?

We will assess your existing storage options and provide suggestions on how to make the most of what you have. If additional supplies are needed, we can recommend cost-effective solutions or assist you in sourcing suitable products.

Can I declutter and organize one specific area of my home?

Absolutely! We understand that decluttering needs can vary. Whether you want to focus on a single room, a specific closet, or any other area, we're here to help. Our services are flexible and adaptable to your specific requirements.

Is my privacy and confidentiality guaranteed?

Yes, we value your privacy and confidentiality. We will never share any personal information or details about your space without your explicit consent. Your trust and comfort are of utmost importance to us.

What if I struggle with letting go of items?

Letting go of items can be emotionally challenging, and we understand that sentimentality or attachment can play a role. We will offer compassionate support and help you explore strategies to make informed decisions. We'll work together to strike a balance between keeping what truly brings you joy and creating a clutter-free environment.
